The heart of Smarty Pants, from day one.
Deia opened her first classroom on Cleveland’s east side in 2010 with three children and one stubborn idea: a strong start should not depend on a zip code.
Sixteen years later, she still owns the center and the building it calls home. Every teacher on this page was chosen with the same standard she started with: treat each child like they have big things ahead of them, because they do.
